Specialist support for everyday progress

Structured therapeutic services that help children and families develop practical skills for daily life.

Ronald McDonald House Malta offers specialist programmes for families whose children may need extra help with communication, behaviour, early development, or daily routines. These programmes help children and parents move forward with greater confidence.

How specialist support works

Each child’s needs are first understood through an initial assessment. After this, a pathway of support is planned to support progress step by step.

Sessions take place in the welcoming, family-focused setting at the Learning Centre.  Run by Dr Natasha Attard and the BX Consultancy team, sessions would include direct work with the child, guidance for parents, and clear progress monitoring.

This service brings structured therapeutic care closer to families within the community.

Programme supporting children with Autism and ADHD

Some children and families benefit from more structured guidance as they manage everyday challenges. These specialist sessions focus on building practical skills, helping children feel more settled and helping parents feel more confident in supporting them.

Parent Empowerment Programme

This is a 20 hour programme for children aged between 2 and 6 who are at the beginning of their therapeutic journey.

Sessions start with a simple assessment to understand what the child finds difficult. Support then continues through guided activities that help build communication and learning skills over time. Parents take part in the process and are shown how the same approaches can be used in everyday situations at home.

Behaviour Support Programme

This programme provides more focused support for children who are finding it hard to manage behaviour in daily situations.

Specialists work with the child to introduce practical approaches that encourage calmer responses and clearer routines. Families are shown how to use the same strategies at home, and schools can be involved when this is helpful. The aim is to help children feel more settled and able to take part in everyday activities.

Parent Skills Programme

This group programme is for parents who would like guidance in understanding their child’s behaviour.

Sessions offer practical suggestions and space to reflect on what works at home. Each family also has time to speak individually with a specialist about their own situation. The programme helps parents feel more confident in responding to everyday challenges.
