Family-centred care conference 2026

In Community Paediatrics

Ronald McDonald House Malta, in collaboration with the Malta Paediatric Association, is proud to host the Family-Centred Care Conference 2026, a leading forum dedicated to advancing child and family-centred healthcare practice in Malta. Taking place on Friday 23 October 2026, the conference will bring together paediatricians, general practitioners, allied health professionals, psychologists, community healthcare practitioners, families and advocates to explore how stronger partnerships between healthcare providers and families can improve outcomes for children.

This year’s programme will feature a distinguished panel of international and local experts, including Dr Sudipta Sen, Dr Stacey John-Legere, Dr Nkiru Asiegbunam and Dr Natasha Attard, who will share insights on child development, child protection, looked after children and child behaviour. Through keynote presentations, practical workshops, multidisciplinary discussions and a dedicated fireside conversation with families and service users, delegates will gain valuable perspectives and practical approaches that place children and families at the centre of care.

For Ronald McDonald House Malta, family-centred care is more than a guiding principle—it is the foundation of our mission. Since launching this conference series in 2022, we have worked to foster dialogue, education and collaboration across the healthcare community, helping to strengthen the role of families as essential partners throughout a child’s healthcare journey.

Supporting better outcomes through family-centred care

Family-centered care is an approach to healthcare that recognises the vital role families play in a child’s healing journey.  By encouraging collaboration between families and healthcare professionals, it helps improve the overall patient experience, strengthens emotional wellbeing, and contributes to better health outcomes for children. At Ronald McDonald House Malta, family-centered care is at the heart of everything we do.  Since 2022, we have championed this approach through conferences that bring together healthcare professionals, caregivers, policymakers, and community stakeholders to encourage dialogue, education and collaboration.  In partnership with the Malta Paediatrics Association, the 2026 conference continues our commitment to advancing care that supports the whole family.
